Anne and I standing amongst the ruins of the Temple of Luxor
Efforts are underway to restore the temple from these jumbled
blocks of stone.
The great courtyard of Amon-Ofis II
Without question these were some of the most beautiful
ruins Anne and I had ever seen of the ancient Egyptian world.
To watch the specials about Egypt on television is one thing,
but to stand amidst these magnificent ruins and be able to touch
them is completely different. You don't get a full appreciation
for their size until you've stood beside them and gazed at them
standing before you. You are held in total and utter awe of what
the ancient Egyptians were able to accomplish using rudimentary
tools. It's beyond belief.
