Bora Bora page 3
Bora Bora has a magical, almost mystical, allure to it because of its dramatic and ever changing profile. This is caused by its two mountain peaks and the images they form when viewed from different places around the island. Having seen pictures I couldn't wait to see them, and I wasn't disappointed. Our first views would be from the plane when landing and then from the dock while we waited for the ferry. I would soon to be disappointed though. Arriving at the hotel I found it impossible to see the twin peaks. The hotel was located just below a small hill which totally blocked our view of the peaks.

I would not see them again until Anne and I took a circle island tour by outrigger canoe. This excursion, which took nearly four hours, completely circled the island and offered excellent views of the ever changing peaks. We also stopped to feed the gray reef sharks and stingrays (following pages). Ride with us and and enjoy the view of these peaks. Was James Michener right!?!
