This picture of Harry and Me is typical of my memories and relationship with my grandfather. A last hug good-bye before leaving for the long trip home following one of the many summer vacations I spent with my grandparents in Boykins. Taken around 1957 it's the perfect image of him as a loving and caring grandfather. My family moved from Boykins, Virginia to New Jersey in the fall of 1954. From that time I spent every summer until 1964 in Boykins with them. Graduating high school in 1965 I entered Chowan College in nearby Murfreesboro, North Carolina in 1965. That year would be the last year I spent any lengthy time with my grandfather. Many of my fondness memories are of those summers spent with my grandparents in Boykins.
